2024 AGM - Confirming members of the council

Following on from the information session on the 20 May, anyone interested in becoming a member of the Howgate District Community Council is invited to come along to the Storehouse for a hybrid session where new members of the CC will be confirmed. 

To become a member you will have to complete a nomination form (link below) and either email it to the Community Council Liason Officer: cll@midlothian.gov.uk, post it to Penicuik Town Hall (c/o Community Council Liaison Officer) or bring it along on the evening. 

You must be nominated by another person (not in your household) and it must be witnessed by two other people, so you need three people to complete the form in total. You will have to be over 16 years of age and be registered on the Electoral Roll at the time of the AGM. There is a maximum of 7 councillor spots, if there are more people interested than there are positions, the people attending the meeting will hold a vote to determine who will be confirmed (but this is rarely needed). An hour is booked in for proceedings but the meeting is likely to be shorter.
